This is the website of HappyJMA Wageningen :-) 

HappyJMA Wageningen organises very happy local activities and small friendly environmental actions. The group also organises Food not Bombs once a month in Wageningen (look under 'Recurring activities' in the menu) and regularly organises Free Hugs activities. Everyone is always very welcome to join our activities! :-)

Chemical waste tour starts next week!

Starting next week, we will have our chemical waste tour again! We will collect chemical waste at all Idealis student flats in Wageningen. We will stay at each flat for about an hour with a big chemical waste van and go along all corridors when we are there, to inform you. You can find the schedule and a list of what is chemical waste here.

Meeting coming Tuesday

Wewill have a meeting again coming Tuesday! Dinner from 6 pm, meeting from 7 pm. We will talk about a train action, Free Hugs, the World Naked Bike Ride, Pimp my Bike and much more. Let us know if you are interested in joining, then we will send you the meeting documents!

World Naked Bike Ride

We have decided to join the World Naked Bike Ride in Wageningen(-Arnhem) on Saturday the 19th of June to:

- celebrate bicycles;
- celebrate our beautiful bodies;
- protest against cars/pollution/dangerous traffic;
- symbolise cyclists' vulnerability to cars and pollution by being naked or 'as bare as you dare'.
Join the WNBR in Wageningen! Details will follow later, but we will probably first cycle a small round through Wageningen and then cycle to Arnhem, where we will join people from Arnhem and Nijmegen. You can also only join the part in Wageningen or in Arnhem. Let us know if you are interested in this action!

Food Not Bombs today!

Today, we will have Food Not Bombs action at the market square in Wageningen! We will be there from +/- 13:00 untill 15:30. If you want some delicious free food, come by to get some! Or if you want to help, you can come by the Arion in the morning (see the WSO website for a map) or the market square in the afternoon.

HappyJMA meeting coming Tuesday

Tuesday, the 9th of March, there will be a HappyJMA meeting (starting at 19:00). You are free to come and share your thoughts with us! We will mainly discuss the coming actions. Before the meeting starts, we have dinner together (starting at 18:00). If you want to join, please send us an e-mail, so we know how many people will come and how many people to cook for.

Valentine's tips!

Don't know what to give your valentine? Why not give her/him a sustainable non-materialistic present like a hug, a massage or a home-cooked dinner or take a nice walk together in the forest? This is a much better way of showing your love than buying cheap and useless presents that cost a lot of energy and material to produce.

Next week, HappyJMA will hand out coupons for immaterial gifts at the market square and also do a happy action outside Forum. More information about this will follow soon.

Food not Bombs with special guest

Friday 22^nd and Saturday 23^rd of January, Arion (Niemeijerstraat 6 – see the WSO website for a map)/market of Wageningen

This Food not Bombs is a special one! One of the founders, Keith McHenry, is joining this time! He will give a presentation on the Friday from 20:00 about the history of Food not Bombs! More information about Keith.

The idea behind Food not Bombs is to give away left-over food of shops, to draw attention to the amounts of food that are thrown away every day and also to just give people a nice meal. We will collect food from shops and market stalls during the week and cook on Friday evening (17:30-21:00) and on Saturday morning (9:30-13:00). We will hand out free food to all people at the market (13:00-15:30). People who want to help with the cooking and giving away of the food are very welcome! Please let us know if you will help and/or join the presentation on Friday.

'Last Thursday we had the first meeting of the year. After a delicious dinner with a lot of skipped mozzarella, we started. There were more people than usual, which was very nice. We saw a new face and some people we have met just a couple of times. We discussed ... ' Read the whole blog here.
